In a land far far away
Wednesday, March 27, 2013 @ 2:06 pm
Hello.
Who says I'm not making an effort to talk to my friends from the same country/class.
I really try to.
But things to talk about have been reduced greatly. Firstly we don't even live close to each other.
Everyone has their own lives now to lead, there isn't really much in common other than the fact that we have same classes and we're classmates.
I hate it how I have to hear from another source, from my homeland about how negative it sounds.
Just tell it to me face to face. I really try to maintain this friendship between us, and its not really working out that well is it?
Its not like I'm purposely sitting further away or not talking. I've made several attempts, and well let's just put it this way. It kinda turned out awkwardly (from my point of view), not sure about the others.
I keep coming back to this same thought about how things used to be previously. Yet there's nothing I can do to improve how things are now.
Kthxbye.
Happy 21st Birthday wuwu!

Biochemistry and Physiology is draining my life away. Its only week 2 at uni, and its horrible. It feels like I haven't got my basis right, since the last time I touched both chem and physiology was like in year 2 poly like 2 years ago!?
I'm really extremely worried, and textbooks are not always available, and if I were to purchase them they're really expensive. I hate the feeling of not being able to highlight those library books like as if they were mine. I wish that I could own every single available textbook in the world just right now.
Please pray for me, so that I can hang on. Uni life is really difficult for me at the moment. The nutrition modules I'm taking are much more fun/interesting than physiology and biochemistry. I hate labwork, and tomorrow I have 3 hrs of biochem doing pippetting, cuvetting, spectrometering and what not.
I'm really worried at the moment and I'm not even kidding or overthinking things. Imagine reading labpract manual and notes and realizing just how much shit you don't know or you're unsure about. I'm deeeepresssssed.
CULTURE SHOCK
Sunday, March 10, 2013 @ 11:08 pm
Hi.
Culture shock time.
Found out so much about the environment here and it'll probably take some getting used to.
Coming from conservative asian society, I'm just simply overwhelmed by the information overload that I've been given.
Like things actually happen LIKE THEY DO IN MOVIES.
What movies you may ask?
AMERICAN PIE those kind. Yeah.
So I'm going to wait and see what happens here.
It'll be really interesting to watch and hear.
By the way, I went to windy point last night. It was amazing.
The view was spectacular and it was so pretty and special.
Could see the skyline from up there. Beautiful place.
Will be back there during winter.
Just wait :)
First days

Hi from sunny adelaide!
The weather these days is really just warm warm warm! First week lectures, and I'm overwhelmed by uni life already.Well, firstly its my first time sitting in a lecture hall filled with 300 plus other students!
Just physiology today, the lecturer told us that there were 398 students enrolled into this common module and that they had expected the lecture theatre to overflow and hence stream into the LT4 above!
But he's a really fun guy, and I look forward to having lectures with him!
Biochemistry seems to be a total killer. Meaning I'll probably have to study the stuff all over again. Stuff like the active site and the enzymes and co enzymes. OMG kill me.
Printing in Australia is sibei expensive. Well, firstly the home printers don't auto flip your paper for you. We spent more than an hour trying to print a 89 page nutrient reference value for australia/nz for our nutrition across the lifespan module. Then I tell you I heard all the vulgarities all in a span of an hour plus. All cursing at just how stupid the manual slotting of paper was. Its essential to do that so we can do back to back printing to save paper. Since everything here is damn expensive.
Forgive me if I start to become more vulgar. Everyday aunty gladys sure to scold me in vulgarities. It's really hilarious watching how every other person next to me swears too. Its like a part of them you've never really seen. For me, I gave up patiently slotting the paper in to feed the machine. I just printed every one-sided. I really cannot tahan lor please.
I feel so lethargic just walking to and fro classes. 1 hr a day, and still must walk up slopes and stairs. Everyone around me is just so worried about getting fat, and they're like going to exercise/jog/gym every single day. I'm just like I wannnnnna work out too, but as the saying goes. The heart is willing, but the flesh is weak. The hall dinner is amazing, we get so much variety everynight until I'm seriously watching my diet and counting calories just to make sure I don't overeat. I think I'll put on weight sia. Scary much! But I don't wannnnnna put on weight :(((((
Exercise is on my mind, but I don't wanna wake up so freaking early to run also. I HATE RUNNING.

Hi from Adelaide!
I'm currently into my first week in hall living already. Well generally, Singaporeans will stick together just like PRCs in Singapore. Finally we understand how they feel when they come over to Singapore to study. I mean there can be really no common topic to share/talk about but the people here are so friendly.
Well, I'm just really glad for a great bunch of singaporeans that are over here staying in hall with me.Seriously grateful and appreciative that we can crap so much together. That we can singlish together, and slang and speak mandarin and spend times in peoples' rooms laughing our asses off. Thank God for them.
Having fun together and getting high upon seeing more asians/singaporeans around. They're the people that have made my stay in the hall more enjoyable.
Making new asian friends, and going places with them. Like just yesterday, I took my virgin ride on the adelaide metro system (bus) to harbourtown, which is near the airport. Meaning that I could have sent my parents off also.
Well, stay tuned for more exciting stories! Tmr's scribble night and then school starts on monday! Well, at least 1 hour of biochemistry that is.
