31ST JANUARY 2013
Thursday, January 31, 2013 @ 1:21 am
WHAT THE SHIT.
31 DAYS OF 2013 JUST WENT PAST. I HAVE 19 DAYS LEFT IN SINGAPORE.
*PANIC MODE*
SO MANY THINGS TO DO.
YES mom is probably right now, she said after december 2012, the rest of the world/time will probably just fly past like that. Okay, so what should I start to do. Start to pack really neatly and get things in order. Gosh I'm getting a silly panic attack.

I'm going to miss home more than ever.
And the people here (probably i'm whining too much like a cry-baby). *fingers crossed I don't cry on the 19th. Lol

Just next week, is the week before CNY. I don't think I'm prepared AT ALL. I shall continue to spring clean when i'm home this saturday. I must leave my area spotless and easy to use when I'm not around.
Looking at my calendar, my heart beats so fast, pitterpatter. It all seems so unreal, (okay back to the story telling of how I always thought of studying overseas but never thought too much about it and da da da da da).

Meetups meetups! Arranging to meet with people before I fly. Went back to NUH and churned out another date with my ex colleagues to meet up. Just faced with the same question all day long while I was there. When I'm flying why I'm back. LOL Something happened that made me pissed. But I shan't bring it up here. Cause I am at peace with myself now.

Throat ulcer is killing me. I wanna recover. So I can eat good food before I leave.

Qiqing's mom is being a darling. Frying up a batch of seaweed/crackers for me :) <3 p="">

Our IJ reunion didn't make it today. I hope Marie gets well soooooooon. Meanwhile I'm making plans for the rest of the weekdays in February already. :(((((((
Last 2 days of January
Wednesday, January 30, 2013 @ 12:02 am

Visited Bishan-AMK park today for brunch at Canopy garden cafe/bar. It was within the park and near the housing estate. Never did you expect such a nice place to be near housing estates. The sun was really hot and I got to skip around on the rocks and visited the ABC canal. Qiqing says its the new age canal, all the canals are going to be upgraded to look like this some day. So pretty isn't it?

Anyway, today is the 30th of January already. Which means I'm only left with 20 days in Singapore. I swear its not even 3 weeks.

So I have to plan my remaining days well right? Visiting places that I want to go to before I fly. Getting the money back from people that owe me money before CNY.

On the side note, there's no more MSN MESSENGER, wanted to chat with angie today and when I clicked on my messenger tab, something popped out and said I was to download skype instead. So I did, and then it said msn messenger is no longer available and that the tab should be removed. Really the end of an era isn't it :(

Visiting ex colleagues at work later. I don't know whether to tell them all I'm coming back or not. I'm not some VIP or anything, but I'm afraid if I do everyone will want to eat lunch with me (WTH CLAR).

SuperTree: IndoChine
Tuesday, January 29, 2013 @ 12:24 am
On Sunday, mom took us up to the IndoChine (SuperTree) at Gardens by the bay for a fantastic view of the marina bay area. We were truly wowed by the view and spent some family time together. Tapas & snacks (meaning alot of finger food = deep fried food = heaty food) that has resulted in my sorethroat now. To top it off we finished the evening with satay at Satay by the bay! It's much further in, but closer to the barrage. I betcha you didn't know that place existed yeah!?

gran was so spontaneous too!

well, my expressions are never the same! :)

mom always complains i don't smile properly for my pictures

perky butt

rooftop time!

with the mbs as my background :)
Today, followed mom to far east flora to get the pussy willows, and at the same time visit my favourite place at the florist. The big walk-in chiller where they keep all the flowers. It was so cold my feet felt a little numb when I was inside, but the flowers inside were so preeetttyyy.

Any kind that you want, its all wholesale there. I just love it inside there. It smells really good and the temperature is so nice and you can to see preeettttyyy things. Like the "lollipop rose" i saw. Obviously its not natural and its dyed. But its just so unique!

this picture goes out to peiyun, because hydrangeas are her favourite flowers. But to me, they're merely just cny flowers. Hahahhaha

Making Chee Gu!
Saturday, January 26, 2013 @ 12:51 am
This morning, after taking my phone off from the charger, I received a call from my yeye. He called asking me if I had plans today and whether I was free. His timing was so good. I felt like a little elf all ready to get to work or something. He asked me over to zhar chee gu! You know, the chinese new year goodie that looks like pieces of shaved gold. It symbolises prosperity and all.

So I agreed! I also asked. If there was lunch (hehe), gran says I'm very smart. Wake up only have food to eat. Mama cooked her aixin mian and then after lunch I helped them to fry the chee gu! It's like family tradition to eat these. My mama and yeye always work together and fry them up during chinese new year. Despite their age now, they still did it for me this year. Knowing that I'll be going away, every week everyday also dote on me :'(

Blessed to have them in my life. Some people never meet their grandparents, but for me. My grandparents were always there for me when i was growing up. Gran retired early from her midwivery to take care of me during primary school. When I was younger in pre-school. I didn't stay at my own home. Daddy & Mummy would leave me at mama yeye's flat in bukit merah because its near my kindergarten and I would only go home during the weekends. So I'm always at mama yeye's house. When I was even younger, they didn't have to engage a maid to take care of me. Mama yeye would take care of me. I was always caned when I was younger, caned by yeye. But now? He dotes on me! Reminiscing the times with them today. I really value the time spent with them. Even though mama is always harping on the same thing and complaining about gran doing this and that. You have to cut her some slack. Both of them grew up differently, and have different values/takes on certain things.
Mama does things from scratch. Even chilli sauces and cooking soups and even using the charcoal fire to cook now. Doing things the good old ways. She still wipes the floors by hand (believes its cleaner that way).
Gran on the other hand? Loves various foods, likes to try new ways of cooking. Aims for convenience and creativity and she really does things differently. Unconventional method of cooking. So YES they do not get along. Always talking/complaining about each other. But its alright. That's what makes my life with them so interesting.

This is the result of 2kg of chee gu. I counted the bulbs.. 33 okay! But it all seems so little now because things are so expensive these days. So well..... Not much to give away to other people this year!

So later tonight. Celebrated vanessa's 17th birthday. Wow. So old already. We still used to play together when we were younger. All my neighbours never changed for 14 years.Still the same neighbours. Nobody moved in or out on the same 11th floor. So I'm quite glad we didn't have to adjust to any new behaviours or what. Shes 4 years younger than me, 1 year younger than Audrey. Remember being so petty with each other when we were younger. I would take her bicycle and learn how to cycle, while we had family clubs and girlz clubs and some gift shoppe where we would make cards and sell them. Those were the days. We even had cold wars last time too! See our photos I think we were in primary school then....

Then today I took photos with her again. See the contrast!

13/14 years of friendship and neighbourly ties!

Happy Birthday again Pang Qi Pei!

Dropbox is amazing. Roxanne shared these photos with me from her camera that day when we put the camera on multiple shots and these were just some of the pictures that came up!
Amazing. I declare my love for dropbox!
So anyway, today I stayed at home the whole day in front of the television. Like a typically couch potato. I hung up the clothing though. And I woke up to see roxanne's tags for her 21st picture. I'm just tempted to ask me to dropbox the whole folder (pictures with our faces) just for keepsake.

So anyway....
Gladys sent me the Uni Hall handbook. Condoms are available for sale on campus from the chemist. They said during emergencies we can get it from the vending machines at the laundry rooms. Talk about a different environment huh! More open, less conservative, which actually scares the hell out of me now. But I read the handbook, hall is really like staying in the hotel. You can have a roomphone, and pay for meals (if u have guests), and if your guests come and stay, for 3 nights they don't have to pay (just pay for mattress & food) which is quite a good deal isn't it? No motel/hotel charges. Can submit maintianence claims and ask for security escorts and the dinner has 3 main courses to choose from and a dessert. We can pack our own lunches (usually sandwiches I would guess) during breakfast. 2 days of warm breakfast while the rest are continental. Sounds so interesting. If I wanted to request late dinner, I just tell the canteen people and leave my container there for *dapao* if thats the case. I'm quite excited after reading the handbook. Just for hall. :)

Sauntering down Reflections
Thursday, January 24, 2013 @ 12:27 am
Yacht. I thought I'll only get to see such things overseas.
Today I visited Keppel Bay with Theresa! Its such a beautiful place, and the surroundings is akin to an upper class neighbourhood. Or rather, it is upper class. It was so serene and tranquil that when you keep quiet, surrounded by the caucasians. Yes alot of hot topless angmohs walking around their neighbourhood. You can peek into Caribbean's swimming pool and see ladies in bikinis and top angmoh men (theinvisiblestalker) it is definitely your ideal neighbourhood!

Its just such a cool and pretty place. Theresa said it looked like we were in Venice or the place was like an artist's impression or something. Pretty cool eh!
So we walked along the Keppel bay bridge and saw the Marine Club and pretty yachts. Those on sale too! Anybody wants to buy?

I also had my tiong bahru sharkmeat lor mee today! I saw it on the tv show like so many years ago when there was the xianxian, mimi and huihui the 3 of them go around bringing tourists to try local delights and see what they like most! So many years ago and I finally get to try them today!

Devonshire English Tea at Fosters (An English Rose Cafe) along Holland Village there, with amazing scones and salmon sandwiches. I love the way they give us the cream and strawberry jam and butter. It is slightly toasted and warm, and you can actually taste those raisins and not just flour in the scones. Accompanied by finger sandwiches (half white/half brown) and a slice of fruit cake and a pot of tea. It was a simple end to the afternoon! More pictures on instagram if you wanna know more about it! For a reasonable price of $11++

Okay, so my right ankle is like swollen. Felt a sudden sharp pain when alighting from the bus today. You know the part when your ankle bends when you walk down the stairs or something. I have trouble bending it now. I walk like a robot. When I go down the stairs, its like watching my ahma go down the stairs. 2 feet for each step. I really hope that its nothing serious. I'm ice-ing it, and resting and compressing it now. Hopefully the swelling will go down tonight. If not I'll at a loss of what to do!

Watched The Impossible today as well. It's based on a true story of a spanish family, but parts of it is quite impossible. Its gory and gruesome because of flesh wounds and the pain. Omg I felt like dying while watching the movie. So much pain, I severely hate pain. So when the people in the movie were screaming and panting and groaning and calling out. I cringe. The image just runs in my mind and the pain noise is going on and on. But the effects of the movie are so real, you actually feel like you're inside the water as the victim. You can sense the underwater currents and such. Imagine if it were a 3d movie. I think vomit bags should be provided if so.

Anyway, its in 3 weeks...
This is how my invisible stalker exposed herself. Outrightly.

This is me, along with the picturesque view of the Caribbean Residence.

Who are you.
Show yourself.
I can see that majority of the views on my blog are from iphones and safari browser.
Leave a tag on the wall.
Its creepy to know I have invisible stalkers that refuse to leave traces of themselves through friendly tags.
Do it pleassssse.

OR I WILL EXPOSE YOU.
Time off with gran
Tuesday, January 22, 2013 @ 11:57 pm
What's up!
Today finally got my laundry bags from DAISO! So many sizes and materials to choose from. DAISO is really like a happy happy place. With so many things and household items and interesting japanese things.
Gran was so happy in DAISO, we spent an hour inside. Just walking around on an empty stomach.

After that, I took the liberty of introducing gran to Nando's for some good chicken. I vividly remember saying I wanted the chicken as mild, but when it came it was HOT. So I guess it still went down quite well. I love the 3 bean salad, and I wanna attempt making it at home! Anyway, gran spammed the extra hot peri peri sauce like free like that. She can tahan chilli padi, so she said she can tahan that.

Packed the wing from my chicken and the breast from gran's chicken for dearest gelato girl Theresa, and some wedges too! For her lunch. It didn't feel so nice to give her our "leftovers" but I did ask her if she minded or not. Also because the wing wasn't exactly my favourite part of the chicken....

Took gran to the new wing of PS and blanjah her to canele cakes. Hahahhaah yes I'm so generous!

Okay, I've got a bone to pick with korean bbq.
I don't understand why my friends love it so much.
The thought of the smell irks me.
I dislike the fact that I have to grill it and get my hair all stinky.
Buffets like that would actually mean that I would have to keep standing up and getting my own meat and food. You can't even grill/bbq vegetables over that. It's just pure meat.
Imagine all that pork belly (ALOT OF FAT), and the beef and the chicken that goes charred over the grill/fire. Then it's such a noisy environment not much for a conversation also.
So there it is. I'm picking a bone with korean bbq, like how i would do for a chicken part.

Le Masquerade Affaire

Amazing 21st birthday at MBS Suites.
ROXANNE'S SUITE. The location was so perfect, facing the gardens by the bay and the suite was so big and the people was so nice. I can just imagine the sandwiches and the spaghetti taste in my mouth right now.
Went there earlier to help with the decoration, like blowing of balloons and exploring the suite.

Thanks to the passes, qiqing and i were able to go up to the skypark FOC! Thank you roxanne, I've always wanted to go up there but never had the chance. Just yesterday I got to go up there for free. We got free MBS writing pens too. Its like a must do for me, when I got to hotels. To bring back wonderful pens to use.

Yesterday I honestly say was the climax of my January. I was looking forward to having a look at the MBS suites and the skypark and it really happened. I'm really thankful for that. For a great bunch of friends that can always tolerate my nonsense. I'm seriously talking about stupid shit and crazy tempers. This all makes leaving next month really hard for me :'(

Real pity we left so early, because of work and school. Another birthday thingy this friday for my neighbour. By the way, princess is getting really old and I can start to see her white-hair filling up her whole face. That reminds me, gotta make a date with mama to make the cheeee-gu because the CNY is coming. Time to get new clothing/pjs?

Qiqing and I up on the skypark. The cold winds were blowing and the heavens were crying. It was really cold up there.

The only shot i got of the birthday girl, because she was surrounded by so many people!

Marie was going crazy last night!

With le makeup artist. She's truly a professional. ^^

Sheeeeeeena in a skirt!

So you may ask, what's next on my to-do list?
Have reunion dinners with people.
I think I shall get fortune cookies, just for the fun of cny yeah!

Oh peiyun introduced this app to me called " billpin", taking my loanshark activities to a whole new level! reminding the people that they owe me money via email!

Severely Pissed
Saturday, January 19, 2013 @ 12:37 am
Okay.
I reiterate. I hate tardiness.
I hate it so much, I could watch it burn every single day and every single night.
Is it too much to ask for, that people be on time for gatherings and such.
Does it mean that when people are late, and you're the only early one that you're not all that important for them to be on time for?
Does it really mean that way?
I hate it.
I hate it.
I hate it.
You decide on a time to meet, you meet on time.
Okay, give a 5-10minute leeway. But more than that? That's just horrible.

It is really true, like in the past.
When a timing is set, people are always early/on time because of the lack of communication devices like a mobile phone or the internet.
If you were late in the past, nobody will wait for you.
But now, with the kind of technology that we have. A smartphone text that will be sent on the time that you're supposed to meet ( I'm still at home, and I'll be late.) Like WTH.
It's a different era. People are like that now.
Tardiness isn't a big deal to some.

Oh please, at least make an effort to be on time.
A month
Friday, January 18, 2013 @ 2:01 pm
So, today is the 18th January 2013. Tomorrow it'll be the 19th. (DUHH) You have a calendar in front of you. It'll mean that I will have officially 4 weeks left in Singapore before I depart for a great 3 years in Adelaide. It seems so surreal, like 6 months back I was still telling myself, its still such a long time more before I depart anyway, so why should I feel like that.

Right now, I'm typing with utmost anxiety, and hope and with alot of mixed feelings. 4 weekends left in Singapore, surrounded by family and friends. In no time at all, I'll really have to get serious about packing, and about living apart and in a new country.

Its really comforting to know that everything has fallen into place so far, getting the opportunity to go abroad to study, just 3 years ago it was just a hope or a dream. Currently, it is about to happen. It won't be easy at all, but since I've already gotten so far, I'm just gonna keep going. It'll be fine ( I guess.)

4 weekends left, very precious. I'm going to make sure I spend each weekend with the people that really matter, and not just random people. Hahahha yes its all about being part of the circle *drawing circle in the end*. Doing things that I can strike off my list.

So this week, I heard about the passing of Aunty Betty, gran is also feeling sad. The people around her are "leaving" and she was just saying that they used to be this great clique that went out and talked and laughed and just hung out. Now out of this group, 2 are gone. (hard facts of life)

Hung out with sarah yesterday, catch up as they call it. Found out so many things that I didn't know. That sharing session just reminded me how quickly we're growing up and just how many things are happening in life right now.Been eating alot recently too.

Went to mama's house yesterday to learn how to make nian gao, and she shared with me many things that I'm not even sure if I should hear off. But she said I'm a big girl now, and I should know. She told me that even I'm not living with her, if she had a choice, she wouldn't send me overseas to study (same thing that dad) said. Talk about that huhhhhh. Anyway later this month I guess I'll learn how to make her signature *QIIII GUUUU* those crispy potato chip look-alike things.

Ranting now instead of doing anything productive on my envy. I wish I could find a silicon cover to protect the keyboard from all this dust!
I will not be sleeping on the streets of Adelaide
Monday, January 14, 2013 @ 11:30 pm
I received my accommodation offers today, and it has made me really excited for school now. Single university hall living, don't have to put up with someone else in the same room as me. Snoring or studying late or early. Or messing up my things in my room. I will have the room all to myself. So technically if I misplace my own items I will only have myself to blame.

At this point in time, I am feeling a little bit more excited for next month. I will be getting keys/swipecard for my room access, and even a room telephone where I can retrieve voice messages from the front desks!
Okay, the down side? Sharing toilets. Common toilets. Imagine cleaning the seat everytime I pee or take a dump. Holding my nose in the public toilet every single day. Holding my pee in the middle of the night just cause the toilet seems so far away. Plus side? No toilet cleaning. Down side? No walking around the house/place wrapped in a towel.

15 meals a week catered. Mondays to fridays, 3 meals a day. During the weekends I guess I'll just survive on water, or oats or maggie or cup soup, Doesn't really matter does it? Maybe cooking, then again I can make use of the locked fridges to store food selfishly so people can't steal my food. I should hunt for a microwave to heat up food. Washing machines and dryers need to pay sia, thats the part I just can't understand. I always thought that in hall, everything is included in the rental. I'm paying $XXX a week, how come we don't get tokens for usage of washing machines and dryers? How bout saying we have to bring our own soap powder and detergent and softener too?

Today I can strike off go to "Dean & Deluca" off my list. The burger I had was amazingggggg. Its the kind that I only eat in my dreams. The angus beef patty was extremely juicy, and medium, the truffle fries were an absolute combination! You just hold on to the burger, clasp it between your hands and savour the juiciness of the patty, in between generous slathering of mayo on both sides of the bread, the salty melted cheese, the crispy bacon, lettuce and steak sized tomatoes, not to forget pickles. I have never enjoyed pickles so much, it just went so well together with the other ingredients. AN AMAZING BEEF BURGER I CALL IT. Definitely finger licking good and probably worth the $22.50 I paid for it.

1 month and 6 days
Sunday, January 13, 2013 @ 11:05 pm
Counting down to the days I have left in Singapore before I leave.
Realising that I haven't updated much in the recent months.
Last week I did things on my "To Do List Before Flying Off", and that included visiting the newly opened Marine Life Park by RWS and having fun at the Adventure Water Cove.

What was most memorable was the opportunity I had to snorkel with the fishes at the Rainbow Reef, enjoying the cool salt water against my skin in the sweltering heat. The S.E.A Aquarium was simply magnificent and amazing, it's almost like you're actually inside diving with the fishes. I am truly fascinated with  jellyfish right now. Its like a blob of goooooeyness and its just so cool like that.

I still think that the what used to be "underwater world" is now part of the aquarium.

Getting mixed feelings about leaving next month. Everything seems to be falling into place. Just can't help it, but feel weird all over. I'm going to leave this place, to go to somewhere new and unfamiliar to me. A place far far away from home. Everyone else seems pretty excited for me. I should do things to keep myself excited too huh.

I managed to clear the shelves that have been bugging me my whole life in my study room last monday. Those dusty shelves, I have gotten rid of them. Like byebye. Started to clear my cupboard, cleared the pictures that used to decorate the cupboard in preparation for the big movement for studies abroad. So now, its just empty.Wiping out the dust and memories that used to hang from the cupboards.

On the side note, another place to strike off the list. ANTIONETTE. That expensive place that I've been wanting to visit before flying. Tried the Gnocchi Carbonara and Mont Blanc (this japanese inspired dessert with chestnut cream), yes and the Moroccan Mint tea was indeed a great way to cleanse the palate after the meal. Felt severely underdressed in shorts (luckily i still wore shoes) because of the bbq later on.
I actually brought back the napkin because it felt too atas and precious to be used. The quality of the napkin is like towel-like, seriously expensive stuff. So I couldn't bear to use to to wipe my dirty mouth. It has better purposes elsewhere (if you know what I mean).

At the huge-ass aquarium that everyone was raving about.

Mont Blanc

Oh, my dad just handed me a glass of red wine to sip on.The writer's block is going to come soon. Uh Uh Uh.....
